We recently had a feature in the Herald about the benefits our YRock School program has for young musicians. STV then gave us a ring and asked if we would do a feature for "The Hour", their daily topical chatty news program with Michelle McGmanus..." that women that won that Pop Idol thing....."
On Saturday the 6th March Grant went over to Great Junction Street Studios in Edinburgh to meet up with some of our regular students to a bit of filming. The guys quickly got to work preparing a cover of "Use Somebody" by the increasingly more popular King of Leon, while Grant and Amy's mum were interviewed.
Amy, Ailsa and Billy all did interviews on camera and talked about their experiences during the YRock School course and how it's helped increase their confidence when playing in bands as well as given them a new outlook on song writing.
Our two favourite quotes for the day were:
"None of my clothes suit me anymore as they don't match my hair", Amber... in reference to her awesome new purple hair.
"I can't smile and play guitar at the same time", Amy in reference to her inability to multi-task. (Which we all know is a lie)
We finished off the day by putting an arrangement of Amy's song, "I'm not right", together with the full band. The song is normally an acoustic song, so it was interesting to see the guys put this together.
We'd like to thank the guys from STV for filming this and we'll be sure to let everyone know when it's going to be on "The Hour".
