What we do

Here at YRock we aim to provide musicians with a network, resources and access to the music industry, not only at a local level but nationwide. Our work can be divided into three parts:

This first of which is running, booking and promoting gigs. This includes networking with bands, record companies, management companies and agencies to get access to some awesome acts. We’re currently working on ‘Project: World Domination’ which basically involves expanding our current work in Glasgow and Edinburgh to other cities in the UK as well as booking bigger acts (meaning the bands we currently support get bigger and better support slots). All our show details are sent out to a wide range of media listings including ents24.co.uk, The Skinny and The Metro, we also have contacts with a wide range of other media/press sources. And every show has a photographer and a reviewer and sometimes even a filmmaker present. YRock is all about giving the best gig experience to the bands and their fans.

The second part of YRock is discovering and developing new talent by running YRock Schools over school holidays – here young people get an intensive and exciting insight into being in a band. We provide tuition and mentoring in all areas of the rock and roll lifestyle (apart from the sex and drugs). A lot of these acts end up working with us further down the line by booking shows through YRock and coming to us for support and advice throughout their careers. You can find out more on our dedicated website. YRockschool.co.uk

The third and final part of what YRock do is known as YRock Enterprise. Here we provide ‘stealth’ learning experiences for young people. We offer projects whereby young people learn life skills by taking part in projects centered round the ‘creative industries’ (that’s pretty much anything creative). So it may be setting up an inter-school record company or making a short film, promoting an event or establishing a recording studio. Whatever it is, we make fun packages for young people to learn valuable skills and gain real experience for on their CVs as well as having a great time in the process.
